I was eating spicy soup
on my lunch break, when a 
common yellowthroat 
came down to remind me:
“You have real work to do.
It does pay very much 
but you’ll get what you need 
when it counts.”
Behind us, the band finished 
a jazz standard 
to scattered applause.
